Quebec City Winter Carnival - Jan 31 - Feb 3, 2008

Suggested Itinerary:

Thursday
11:00 pm - We'll depart for the overnight drive to Quebec City. We will make rest stops throughout the evening.

Friday

We should arrive in Quebec City at approximately 9:30am. When we arrive at the hotel we will check into our rooms IF THEY ARE READY. They are not usually available until 3:00 pm. If they are not ready, we will check our bags. WALKING TOUR OF THE OLD CITY AND CARNIVAL EXHIBITS. If we are able to check into our rooms, this tour will begin at noon. If not, it will begin immediately after our bags our checked. We'll see:

  • Money Exchange
  • The Ice Castle
  • Old City Wall
  • Chateau Frontenac
  • Lower Town & The Old Port
  • The Citadelle walk along the St. Lawrence
  • The Ice Sculptures
  • Tubing, Sledding & Ice Tobagganing
After the tour is finished, we'll return to the hotel. It's COLD!! Wear warm clothes and boots for the walk. It usually lasts a few hours.

5:30 pm - Dinner at Le Petit Chateau - We'll have a complete dinner at this well known restaurant inside the Old City just across the street from the Clarendon Hotel. Dinner will include a Cheese Fondue appetizer, chicken filet with mushroom sauce and potatoes (vegetarian option available) and an apple crepe for dessert. Tea, or soda is also included.

7:00 pm - After dinner, we'll walk over to the ice-toboggan track behind the Chateau Frontenac and take a few rides. After we finish the rides, we'll return to the hotel for the evening.

Saturday
10:00 am - See the Normandin Soap Box Derby just outside the hotel. 11:30AM We'll meet in the hotel lobby and walk to the bus meeting point outside the old city. Then we'll take a ride to St. Anne de Beaupre Cathedral. This magnificent cathedral is the destination of religious pilgrims and is well known for it's miraculous power to cure the sick. Next, we'll visit Chute Montmorency Waterfalls. Catch a close up view of one of North America's tallest waterfalls. You can also take a sleigh ride (minus the sleigh) down the ice bubble which forms at the base of the falls.

2:30 pm - Approximate return time to the hotel.

7:30 pm - Dinner at Restaurant Le Bonaparte We'll have a complete dinner at this restaurant located just outside the Old City on the Grand Allee just a short walk from our hotel. Dinner will include a mixed salad with balsamic vinaigrette and goat cheese toast; choice of sirloin steak with Bordeaux sauce, giant shrimp in pastry shell with lobster sauce or stuffed chicken breast with ginger sauce and Baked Alaska for dessert. Coffee, tea or soda is included.

Sunday
9:00 am - Our bus will depart from the hotel for return trip home. We'll stop at the duty free shop at the border on our way home. Here you can exchange any remaining Canadian money back to U.S. and make purchases of duty free items. We won't make a stop for food until the afternoon, so it's a GOOD IDEA TO BRING SNACKS/LUNCH ON THE BUS.
